Emeric realized despite being raised half in Kirkwall and half in Ferelden, it was Orlais that held his loyalty. His father had raised him in an Orlesian fashion, and for this he was proud.

He kissed Alison’s forehead and left her one last goodbye note. Perhaps he would return to Alison alive- but more likely he would die in battle. And he was ready for this.

He filled his pack with his things, putting two extra apples into it, and escaped Connor and Alison’s camp grounds before they could awake.

Emeric had a duty to Orlais. He was a skilled bowman, and very good at slight-of-hand. No one, and he meant no one, could stand in his way.

This was the benefit to familyless-ness. The bandits and father he had spent so much of his life with were all dead, so that no one could stop him now.

Emeric would do his father justice, and make the man proud. Emeric had never become a templar like his father, but he had picked up some tricks, and craved his father’s approval of such, though he certainly would never admit it.

This was a legacy he had to uphold. A faint trace of one that he was only barely aware of. This was a legacy stronger than love, and this was one thing he would certainly not fail.
